Material Topics

Through an extensive review of our business and client needs, six material topics aligned with our values have been identified to have the most significant impact on our business and long-term performance.

Given our position in the value chain of our clients’ sectors, we have an opportunity to make a tremendous contribution in supporting our clients in their environmental goals and through the energy transition. Pioneering Green Initiatives

Proven LTDis® desalination trial successes in Alberta using saltwater, and in Texas using produced water. We are pleased to announce the LTDisTM unit exceeded trial targets and reduced total dissolved solids (TDS) from 130,000mg/L TDS to 350mg/L TDS

Hosted an International Panel on Climate Change AR6 Climate Change Report Workshop.

Established an inventory of our corporate environmental impact, including emissions, water, and waste.

Environmental

We promote sustainable and responsible resource use by consuming fewer resources and minimizing our land, water, waste, and emission footprints. With an innovative perspective, we look for opportunities to capture the beneficial reuse of waste and identify and implement energy efficiencies in our designs while committing to responsible environmental practices that include climate change adaptation and resilience, emission reduction, biodiversity protection, and conservation of natural resources.

Environmental Targets

  • Tracking Emissions: Continue to track our corporate Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and develop a longer-term climate action plan in 2022 to reduce our corporate emissions.
  • Educational Workshops: Provide at least one educational workshop to our employees every year about project-specific carbon adaptation and mitigation solutions, innovative ideas, new technology, or ESG articles and communication
  • Reduce Carbon Impact: Create an Action Plan for reducing carbon impact that is aligned with our client’s GHG and carbon reduction goals in 2022.
  • Technology Arbitration: Develop an annual summary of new, innovative technologies we have explored that provide a sustainable outcome.

Social

Our purpose is directly linked to our people and protecting the resources surrounding us. Paramount to this is a culture of engagement, empowerment, and safety. We focus on communication and transparency to build thoughtful relationships with our employees, partners, and communities.

Social Targets

  • Health & Safety: Maintain a Total Recordable Incident Frequency (TRIF) that is lower than the industry standard in 2022.
  • Female Leaders: Maintain 37% women in Professional and/or Supervisory roles in 2022.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: Develop a Diversity Policy in 2022.
  • Giving Back: Track our corporate volunteer hours in 2022.
  • Reconciliation: Create an Indigenous Procurement Policy in 2022.

The foundation of our governance is built on integrity, transparency, and professionalism to earn the trust of our stakeholders. Underpinned by our corporate policies, our commitment is to maintain the highest standards of integrity while ensuring responsible, long-term growth.

Data & Indices

Our ESG report covers the activities of Integrated Sustainability from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021, unless otherwise indicated. When available, data from the three preceding years is included to indicate quantitative performance trends, improvements, and challenges. 

This is Integrated Sustainability’s inaugural ESG report, and it is supported by the principles and recommendations of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
