Regulatory Bulletin, June 2022

Did you know the original legislation to protect the overharvesting and unregulated commerce of migratory birds was enacted in 1918? In this issue of the Regulatory Bulletin, we highlight the much-needed modernization of the Migratory Birds Regulations, what this means for efforts to protect migratory birds and their habitat, as well as 2 significant updates to the Species at Risk Act.

In Alberta and British Columbia, it is the duty of a project proponent to demonstrate due diligence by conducting wildlife surveys prior to construction or disturbance taking place. For more information on wildlife surveys or assistance with your project, please contact Tanya Cairns, VP of Science and Consulting.
