Evaluation of stream response to groundwater interception in support of fish habitat offsetting

The Challenge

As part of a feasibility study for fish habitat offsetting, the customer was looking for a detailed model of groundwater and surface water interaction for design phase.

Integrated Sustainability brought an innovative application of ground penetrating radar (GPR) to the project to better develop an understanding of the alluvial aquifer.

The Result

Integrated Sustainability analyzed a variety of information to gain an understanding of the hydrologic system and the degree of groundwater/surface water interaction.

The resulting model not only exceeded customer expectations, but the innovative use of GPR actually reduced geotechnical and groundwater investigation costs.

SAGD Production Waste and Water Study

A study designed to provide a detailed overview of current operational conditions of a thermal energy plant, which consists of drafting piping and instrumentation diagram (P&IDs) and process flow diagrams (PFDs), sampling plan, and an evaluation of the water chemistry. Following the completion of the water chemistry evaluation, Integrated Sustainability conducted a multi-criteria evaluation which assessed water treatment technologies and optimization strategies to reduce disposal costs.
