Kakwa River Intake Evaluation and Water Act Term Licence Application

The Challenge

The client applied for and received approval to construct a fresh water storage facility capable of capturing between 200,000 m3 and 400,000 m3 of surface runoff. The client approached Integrated Sustainability to pursue a term licence under the Water Act from the Kakwa River as a supplement to fill the reservoir and meet its water demands.

The Result

Integrated Sustainability conducted an intake location evaluation on the Kakwa River, and conducted client water demand, hydrological, aquatic and environmental assessments on the chosen intake location.
After completing the conceptual Intake design and alternative source evaluation, we were able to develop and submit the Water Act Term Licence application, and we provided technical support during Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) Review.
