Integrated Sustainability was retained to provide a decentralized wastewater treatment plant and disposal design for a large exploration camp in a remote location in the Yukon Territory. Extreme cold temperatures as low as -60°C were expected at the camp. Integrated Sustainability was approached to provide design details, procurement and construction support for the proposed infrastructure to serve the 400 person camp.
The system includes the collection and treatment of all domestic wastewater from the camp, using a packaged wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) designed to meet the required effluent standards. After treatment, the treated effluent is discharged to surface to be dispersed into the surrounding soils by the Subsurface Wastewater Infiltration System. Freeze protection measures were undertaken to ensure freezing within pipes and field infiltration did not occur.
