Working With Shared Purpose
Integrated Sustainability are passionate supporters of Indigenous lead community development. We actively participate in projects to secure safe water, promote public health, and encourage environmental protection, for over 50 Indigenous communities across Canada. With a strong and reliable reputation, we aim to work together as long-term partners to honor water’s sacredness within our shared roles as stewards of the land.
Every community is different, which is why we like to begin with knowledge sharing with your Chief, council, and operations staff. Once strong working relationships are established, we seek to engage communities with listening sessions to create a dialogue and come to an agreement within the wider community. We would like to become a trusted advisors and understand the importance of working within the community to reach this goal.
Understanding the communities’ wishes and concerns is of utmost importance to us. Not only because it enables a smoother process, but also because this allows for a solution that serves your unique needs and considers your unique environmental conditions.
Our purpose and perspective drive our organization. We are a tight-knit community of individuals who believe in empowering lives, building resiliency, and protecting our most precious resources. The majority of our staff have an environmental science background and care deeply about the future welfare of our planet.
Adaptation and mitigation to climate change is considered in all our designs. We appreciate that there is much we don’t know about the intricacies of the biosphere, and we respect the proprietary rights indigenous communities exercise with regard to medicines and native plant knowledge.
In our experience to date, we have found that distrust in water systems has been caused by long-term issues such as chronic underfunding, inadequate distribution systems, and seasonal disruption. We work directly with communities to show how effective collaboration, planning, and ongoing technical/operational support can overcome these hurdles and build sustainable community ownership.
